Almost as soon as I take my multi-vitamin, I get nauseous. At first, I thought it was the calcium tabs (it happens to my mom and aunt), but I stopped taking them, and it still happens. It doesn't last terribly long, but it's enough to make me sit down and stop moving for about five minutes. Any ideas, you medical-type people?

Some multivitamins which contains natural additions can call weak allergy reaction. For example, echinacea can be reason of this, really it is very allergic. Lakerica can increase the blood pressure. The calcium overdose can be a reason of kidney diseases, also it can change the flexibility of Your blood vessels. Zinc - it usually used to calm nervous system, but it can be reason of depression, vision problems and ... nausea too ...

The most of manufactured vitamines does not stay in body and get out with urine very fast. Try to use natural vitamines, like carrots, oranges, cabbages ... it makes more effect.

I don't think regular multi-vitamins have herbal stuff in them, lobo. (Like echinacea.) Additionally, I don't take enough to overdose, so that shouldn't be the issue, either.

Actually I have a similar problem. I took a few different types of multivitamins to see if any of them wouldn't hurt my stomach. All of them did. I found out through my nutritionist that I may jsut be having a reaction to the stuff that holds the pills together and I should try the powder form. I purchased metagenics multivitamin powder and it worked! no more cramping and pain in my stomach! You might want to try that. The hard pills for the multivitamins might just be too strong for your stomach to digest.

Hope that helps :nod:

Where would I find said powdered vitamins?

The only thing that really strikes me as odd is that I've never had a problem with vitamins before. But in the past..four or five months, they've been effing up my system. :banghead:

Unfortunately there is no picture of it. If you want this multivitamin, I'd strongly recommend you stir it in orange juice. It doesn't taste that great at all so it will taste rather awful in water or somethign not strong like OJ. It's possible it would do ok in a shake as well.

Mth, I find the same thing happens to me too. I think it's the zinc and the iron. If I take them with food, I'm OK.

If I take an extra zinc supplement, look out - I'm sick to my stomach for a good hour or so.

:: sigh ::

I've tried taking them before and after meals. Still no go :rolleyes: They just don't like me anymore.

I haven't done the math, but kids vitamins now come in bubble gum and my new favorite "gummy worms w/ vitamins" Soft chews also are around.

Yeah, as I was giving my son his Sesame Street chewable this morning, I considered taking them myself..
