I just came from the doctor. I've had this nasty cough for weeks. I thought it was just a cold and would go away but it hasn't.
The last few days my chest has been killing me. My lungs have been gurgling and bubbling and itchy. :(
He said i've got pneumonia and should stay in bed (which means no work) and rest up for a few days.
i feel so yucky! :bawl:

Sorry to hear about the illness, Catch up on some sleep and take it easy. Chicken soup really does help with these things. There have been some great studies about taking it easy and resting as really working, Mom's old advice works so take it. Get well soon.

Uncool, pneumonia can and does kill. You do not have to be an older person
to get it or die from it.
Sure you are gonna feel tired all the time, coughing and wheezing, wondering when it will end. It will not go away like colds or flu.
Pneumonia is a virus.
Did your doctor prescribe any antibiotics, or try to admit you to the hospital?
If not, and if you have insurance or money, get help fast.
Do the free clinic.
Having had double pneumonia when i was 27, two different doctors gave me less than 90 days to live, kind of shocking thing to hear at any age.
19 years later and i'm still ticking. I enjoy not being sickly skinny anymore.
Good luck, do what ever it takes to get your body back up and going again.

if you take care of it, which it sounds like you're doing, you've got nothing to worry about
my next door neighbor had pneumonia last quarter, he felt like crap for 3 weeks, but now he's healthy as an ox or something again
all you may do is post to the soup! ;)

While it can be quite serious, I'm sure she's doing what she is supposed to and it's good that she saw a doctor.. As was asked earlier, were you indeed given any prescriptions at all? Just curious...
Hang in there, get well soon!

pneumonia (pna) can be caused by viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Not all pna's are created equal, thankfully. Antibiotics do NO good for viruses, unless you want diarrhea too  Like any illness, if you do not take it seriously it may bite you in the ass. So take it seriously and get well - and don't infect the rest of us!!

Um..if it's a virus, meds wouldn't do any good. That's why you can't take antibiotics for colds, ya know?

Pneumonia is not contagious, so others are safe.
The antibiotics that helped and did the job for me had no side effects.
When i went back to see both doctors after i was better, both asked the same question. What hospital was i in?
They were ticked that i recovered and they did not profit off of me.
No summer homes, yachts, condo's, ect.

Actually I heard that there is scientific proof somewhere that hot chicken noodle soup actually does help with cold viruses. I'm not sure what it is but I do feel good after I have some when I'm sick. ;)

pna is NEVER contagious over the internet, and after 24hours of antibiotics bacterial pna is not contagious to anyone. And really the docs made ALL their money while you were an outpatient getting well (and they did help you get better now didn't they).

thanks gang, for all your advice.
I really am taking it easy..i just don't like staying bed. However, I have spent many hours laying on the sofa. :D
The doc game me this awesome cough medicine. (he mixed it himself!) Ya gotta love codiene. :naughty:
He also gave me these super strong antibiotics called Avelox. It cost me $110.00 for 10 stinkin' pills! But I could literally feel the difference after the second dose. I don't care what study says what about antibiotics and viruses...this is working for me.
but I feel pretty good. ;)
