I finally got my copy of Diablo 2 installed today, and have been playing through it.
Partial spoiler below:
I found it kinda morbid that once you get a little into the game, you go back to a decimated Tristram, are forced to kill a possessed Griswold, and find a murdered Wirt with his good leg severed from his body and able to be picked up.
However, I was laughing so hard, I nearly spit a half-chewed Pop-Tart all over my monitor when I found out that you can use Wirt's Leg as a socketed weapon. It's even halfway decent. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Actually, early on in the game, I got killed and had to fight my way back to the same spot to recover all of my stuff. Having Wirt's leg on hand was good, and it was actually a decent weapon for the short term.

If you liked Diablo, you'll most likely love Diablo II. If you weren't into Diablo, no one can be sure if you'll like it.
Personally, I was in on the beta, and I love the added features of the full version.

well, i've never played Diablo . I wasn't much into gaming then, but I'd like to try diablo 2.
I knew i wouldn't pay $60 or whatever it was, for something that i might not like. I'm thinkin' around $30, is that a good price to get it at?

Well, since you can find Diablo for under $10 at times, buy that, play it through, and see if you like it. It's still a great game in it's own right (I still play it), and it'll give you a handle on whether or not you'll like D2.

Ok, I've been carrying around Wirts leg for awhile now. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif Oooh, that sounds so bad. It does come in handy when you get killed... but I've been thinking of dumping it. Does it really get you into a secret level? If so, where is the secret level? (If you don't mind sharing). Do you make it socketed by putting it into the Horadin (spelling) Cube thing?

***********POTENTIAL SPOILER BELOW***********
**************You were warned :)**************
don't hold on to it
you can go back and get it any time you want
basically once you beat say... normal mode
you can go back, get the leg, use the cube to merge, and it opens a portal
the cow level is basically a big level with very large cows with axes chasing you.
they are pretty tough, but if you beat king cow you get some pretty nice items...the level is great for getting gems

Alright! I am on just the normal mode so far. Haven't made it through the game yet. So, I can just dump it out of the Stash chest and it'll be back to wherever the heck Wirt's body was at? Can you get the gems from the special area and bring them back to the regular game? I'm playing the Sorceress first time through... yikes, she get's killed pretty darn easy. Shoulda went with a warrior first time through probably, huh?
