View Full Version : Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
Alright just to let you know I'm extremely angry right now and I need to vent.
Here we go...
I just started High School and its pretty cool. I joined the track team:D and the problem is in two words 'my mother!!!!!!!'
We need a doctor's note to practice and I have until Thurs. to bring it in (but before then I can keep practicing) . My mother for no reason whatsoever refuses to fax the doctor to get one:mad: .
Next problem, just now my mother asks me how many times a week do I practice and I say 4 or 5. She flies off the handle and tells me to find something else. She doesn't care how much I like track. I can get home and finish my homework on time but she doesn't care.
I can't talk to her because she'll just yell so there is no getting through to her.
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Can anyone say anything helpful?
What are You tracking for?
I mean .. What is it tracking team?
May be it is not good thing ... I mean tracking ...
However ... hope that Your problems will be solved soon.

Well, I can try to be helpful. ;)
There's got to be a reason behind your mother's objection to your joining track. Whether she explains it to you or not, there's a reason in her mind to explain her objections.
My best suggestion would be to sit down and have a serious discussion with your mother about the issue, and ask her to explain her objections to you. Be prepared to counter her with valid reasons why your joining the track team is a good thing for you.
At best, you can find a compromise where you can participate with track, and you'll satisfy her objections to it.
lobo> Track team is track and field sports.
Thanks Diesel, but that will be going through a war zone.
I'll try it anyway.

Well, unless you can get to a doctor on your own, and pay the doctor on your own to get the doctor's note, I don't really see any way to get around that. Even if you do, you still have to get around the permission issue with the school. Sorry.
The key is that you have to not only argue your case so that your mother will see the benefits of you participating on the track team, but you also have to be open to understanding her objections to doing so, and either try to ease her mind if her concerns are valid, or make her understand the situation better if her concerns are seemingly unfounded.
You can't go into this with the attitude that "she's just not being reasonable", because there's obviously some problem she has with the situation. It just might not be clear to you what that issue is right now. Listen to her concerns, and address them individually.
The thing is, you're reliant on her to help you get this done. She's the one with insurance to pay for the doctor. She's the one responsible for your well-being. Without her permission, you're limited on the things you can do, at least until you're old enough to make those decisions yourself while fully understanding the ramifications of your actions.
As with many things in life, communication is the key.

...Moving to crisis center...
I really hope this gets worked out. I too had a difficutl time talking to my mother when I felt she was unreasonable. Once we actually sat down and not while hot headed, I had some insight as to why she was being so stubborn. I didn't always agree with her outcome but at least I understood more why she was being the way she was.

That's great news!
If you don't mind sharing, I'd be very interested in knowing how you got the situation resolved. :)
