Man, those things are spooky. Ionized gas traveling at 2 million miles an hour.
Discovery's website has a lot of cool info on this phenomenon, including a few movies... http://tlc.discovery.com/tlcpages/sunstorms/sunstorms_main.html has the info.
Thank god there's an atmosphere...yikes!

I may actually have to make an effort to stay up late on Friday. If I could see an aurora (on a side note, if I have a daughter..eventually..I want that to be her name), that'd be awesome http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
Experts say that the aurora is best viewed around midnight, local time.
