View Full Version : Gripe of the day

Do you need to gripe about something? Something pissing you off today you need to bitch and moan about?
I DO!!! I do occasionally like to purchase something from ebay and so far have been pretty lucky in finding rather pleasant sellers and buyers to work with. Recently I tried to purchase a mug. I got it through buy-it-now and requested to pay via paypal, which was an option he said he accepted. The seller didn't respond for a very long time. So after a week/week and a half of no responce I posted a negative feedback to him. Well a few days later he responded very rudely almost implying that I should have known he was on vacation....he also didn't give me the information I requested in order to pay him. And to top it off he admitted to replying to the wrong e-mail but still putting the blame on me as if I did it . SO I responded in defense, but not rudely, stating that I didn't know he was on vacation and figured he was just not planning on selling the item to me or something. He continued to use bully tactics to try to get me to pay but STILL not giving me the information I have now repeatedly requested from him in order to pay :banghead:. Now he puts a non-payment warning on me and finally gives me the information I needed to pay him :ticked:. I paid him, but I do plan on filing a complaint about him. He invited me to look at his outstanding feedback (which I had already) and in there are about 6 complaints out of about 300-400 positive feedbacks. Not bad for a record on ebay but the complaints were about non-communication and rude bullying tactics, the same complaint as mine. Oh well I guess I learned something. He wants me to retract my feedback which I agreed to but it's not that easy to do. I wish I didn't agree to retract it, cause the guy is a total dillweed and needs to grow up. :dork:
So what's your gripe of the day? Post it here...even if you've posted the same gripe before, post it again as long as it still pisses you off!
P.S. It feels good to let go of the steam!

Solicitors. It's bad enough when they come to your door, but somehow they become REALLY evil people when they wake you up! GRRRRRRRR

LOL Since I get up at 5:15, they'd have to really be going outside the limits of decency to wake me up ;)
But yes, solicitors are evil. Send your dogs after them... ;)

I've had phone solicitors call me at 7AM on a Saturday. I wasn't too calm in voicing my displeasure at them.
I've also had Jehovah's Witnesses come by at 8AM on a Saturday. I usually politely tell them I'm not interested, and if they continue with their diatribe, I slam the door in their faces.

I hate the phone solicitors who can't call themselves, but get a machine to call and you're greeted with silence when you answer. Even worse are the ones where you pick up and hear a machine saying "we have a very important call for you. Please stay on the line and someone will be with you shortly" If it's so important, why didn't a real person call me and why are you making me wait?

Those are actually illegal in NY. If you get a call from an automated machine, and listen long enough to get their information and report them to the state, you can actually get a reward.
I only wish they'd do this in NJ.
If anyone ever was stupid enough to call me at 8:00 in the morning on a saturday I would probably go balistic . . . I mean its bad enough when my relitives do it, but some stranger trying to get me to buy something . . .

It just urks me when I know something is not working right and the company sends someone over to fix it and they say nothing is wrong. GRRRR. I occasionally get this strong oil smell through the house. The oil tank isn't leaking and the smell seems to be from the oil burner. The oil company sent someone over a couple of times. First one said nothing is wrong and left. The second one also said nothing is wrong but cleaned the system. At least he tried something. But today the house WREAKS of oil. It's making both of us lightheaded and we both feel like we are going to faint. Tomorrow they are sending someone over. I know he'll say nothing is wrong. But my nose says otherwise. The operator on the phone said she'll tell him what the other tech people said when they saw the burner and that I haven't been using my heater. I hope he does actually find somethign or can do something about this. Or I'm going to go nuts!!

Awww *hugs*. These things DO just happen... but it makes sense to teach people how to prevent SOME of the causes of premature births, doesn't it? If the ad was saying those were the only things that cause it though, that's horrible.
I was a preemie too (6 weeks early) and my mom didn't do any of that stuff either.

Currently, I'm sick of two-faced bitches. I thought that I'd escaped from them since leaving conventional school, but I just found out that I was completely wrong. :| It's caused me to lose a friend who I really would rather have kept. :( But more than anything, I can't believe that she was so insensitive as to actually tell the girl who I was raving about.
Alyth
06-01-2002, 11:04 AM
YesIndeed> I've lost a friend to soemthing I said too. Although in another way. This bully was listenning in on my convo with this friend of mine and told a bunch of people in my class the secret and told everyone I told her the story. My friend didn't believe I didn't spread it so I lost her friendship. I hate that feeling and I just wanted to kill the bully (she WAS actually my bully...she wasn't very nice to me but she was the only one that was ever physically mean to me. Others just would do things behind my back or tease me in a less annoying way than her), but that's another story.
I STILL hate the heat. I can't sleep in it. I get so cranky too when things like hair and clothes stick to me cause I'm hot and sweaty. YUCK! It also sucks that my air conditioner broke so I gotta deal with the heat at night till it gets fixed. But even so, I dont' have anywhere to put a unit in my room so I gotta count on the one in the living room (which is across from my room and down the stairs) to cool my room off and it's not nearly as good as I'd like it. :ticked:

You know, it just bugs me that when people are acting stupid on the road..cutting others off, tailgating, flashing their brights cause you aren't going fast enough in the fast lane for them when you are already going about 10-15 mph above the speed limit and your car is going faster than everyone else's and there is no police around to catch the guy in the act! After almost every concert I've been to there is some kind of chase going on with a bunch of speed dorks on the road. Why can't the police figure this out that after a concert, sit on the popular roads and catch these fired up people. Some may be drunk and/or high on something and the police would get themselves a pretty ticket to add to their end-of-month quota.

As far as bad spots go, my dog Skye decided to pee on my bed. All I wanted to do was play with her and pet her but NOOOO she decided it's time to pee. :ticked:
...and why is it dogs like to lay down in very inconvenient spots like in a doorway, or directly behind me when I'm on the phone, or when I am preparing something to eat, or even lay across the top of the stairs? Skye has been stepped on and tripped over so many times, you'd think she'd get the idea by now.

07-08-2002, 01:13 PM
Spidey> I'm the same way. It does get to me especially when I'm driving and what they throw lands on my car. Car fires start that way. People just don't realise that the cigarette butt still exists outside the car and in fact is still burning. When it lands in another car it can start a fire. If it lands on dry grass, it can start a forest fire. But NOOOOO! it's not their problem once it's outside the car window! :furious:
Anyone get someone's newspaper page on their windshield while driving? I have, it's a scary experience. You can't see a thing!
And also the occasional rocks/sand/debris. I had a rock land on my windshield and it caused a crack.
But luckily it was filled in with some kind of sealant instead of replacing the whole windshield. I'm still out 100 bucks b/c of that dude.

Why is it people feel they need to lick their fingers when trying to hand you some sort of piece of paper (IE money, flyer, etc...). I don't want to handle a piece of paper with someone's spit on it. I don't care if it dries up before it gets to my hands but the thought of it just makes me sick! I appreciated the setup that this diner hand for the cashier to handle money. They had a wet sponge near the register so instead of licking their fingers to hand you money, they would wet their fingers with the sponge. It's so much cleaner and not at all gross to think about!

rude customers at blockbuster :|
today i'm on line w/lings and this lady walks up to the counter with her son (they had a deal going on where you donate a $1 to the boys'/girls' cub of america and you got free kids' movies for the whole summer) the deal ended last week. the girl behind the counter told her this and the lady got really mad, said something mean that i couldn't hear and then stomped out of the store. you could tell her kid was embarrassed.
give me a break. even if you get one movie, your still ahead of the game. why treat people behind the counter like scum? they didn't make up the rules. and also, what kind of example are you setting for your child here? to be rude? the whole thing was so stupid. what an idiot.

If you can say "you are" then it's you're.
(for example. You are a nice person is the same as You're a nice person. He is a tall man is the same as He's a tall man.)
If you can't say "you are" and it is possessive then it's your.
(possessive meaning it belongs to something. For example: the pencil is his. That is your pen. That is Maggie's pen. This is my keyboard. Etc...)
I hope that helped

I went to see Star Trek Nemesis the other night (ok movie, not my favorite Star Trek however) and I think I was going to scream!! There were two very young kids (maybe 12 years old?) chatting away behind me with a full voice. Whispering annoys me in movies but there's no reason to talk. The parents, or at least adults, were with them but paid no mind to their talking. I mean, for example, when a character in the movie started measuring in kilometers, one girl asked the other what a kilometer is. The other girl didn't know but then started narrating the movie scene by scene. Their gasping and squealing to some extent is fine if a scene is scary or something, but both of them just kept doing that during the most calmest parts...nothing was going on in those scenes! A few times I turned around and shushed them but they didn't even notice. I occasionally glanced at the adult that was with them but not to my surprise the adult was chatting away (at least in a whisper) to the person sitting next to him.
Maybe I'm wrong but I believe there is a movie etiquette as far as talking goes. Be as quiet as you can!!! I personally wouldn't bring my kids to a movie unless they understand that a movie is to be listenned to; it's not a place where they can talk freely. I've always felt if there is anything someone feels needs to be said during a movie, whisper it and only if necesary, otherwise don't say anything cause it's rude to others who are trying to concentrate and enjoy the movie.
That's really irritating.
Speaking of irritating, I can't stand trying to reason with a narcissist

I do understand what you are saying, Spidey. I hate it myself. However on the other point of view...at least in my case, I'm short and I got a tall car. That doesn't make it easy for me to get snow off the top of my car. But if it counts at all. I feel bad when the snow does fly off the top of my car. :(
So I can't talk for all people that leave snow on their cars but for those too short to wipe off the snow and would like to otherwise, I'm sure they'd apologise for it. For those that don't care to wipe it off, please show SOME courtesy for others driving!!
OK...My turn to gripe. People that smoke in their cars don't seem to realise that smoke exits out the back of their cars and enters into the people's cars behind them. I can't stand it!!! I will be sitting behind a car at a stop light inhaling the cigarette fumes that he or she is blindly producing. I know it's their own space and they can choose to do what they want in their own cars, but I feel it's like an invasion to me if I got to breathe it in. I don't think there's anything I can do about it, but damn I'd love to just slap someone one day and remind them how stupid it is to smoke cigarettes in such a closed-in area. It's just killing themselves faster. :ticked:
I also wish that they'd stop littering the roads with their cigarettes. Can't they just put it out in their ashtray?

What you just said reminded me of something- I HATE HUGE MONSTER TRUCKS
Once, when I was driving home one night really late, I was driving normal speed. A huge-arse truck come up on my tail, then all of a sudden, he decides to cross the solid line (driving on the other side of the road)and get in front of me (even though I wasn't going slow).
I was so annoyed (and fueled by a drink) that I kept track of him and then pretended to turn off somewhere. I managed to track him and watch him park his car on a nearby street. I waited for him to go into his house, then, took out a post-it note, wrote A**hole on it, and stuck it onto his windshield. I hope it stuck!

I hate it when a business calls and assumes the person answering, who isn't the one they are looking for, is somehow connected to the person they want.
For example; let's say Alien's name is Joe Smith (it's not), and a business calls in looking for him. I answer the phone and they imediately address me as Mrs. Smith. Who said I was married? Why not just say "I'm looking for Mr. Smith, is he there?" or something along those lines. Therefore, the call is addressed appropriately, no misunderstandings or assumptions are made, and no one gets insulted. I hate it when it's the other way around too when they address Alien with my last name. I know they don't know better but stop assuming anyway. Assuming can only make an arse of yourself anyway.

I can't count on my fingers how many times telemarketers have called me "ma'am" or "miss". Now, I don't have the deepest, manly-man voice or anything... but I do not sound like a girl. To be honest though, it has happened enough times that it really doesn't bother me at all anymore. In fact, I usually use it to my advantage... as soon as I say, "actually, it's mister, not miss...and I'm not interested," the person is usually so embarrassed that he/she doesn't try to keep me on the line, he'll just apologize and then hang up.

It's gotten to the point where I just cuss telemarketers out. (Of course, I do try to make sure they're not related to one of "my" companies - like a credit card or something.) I yelled at one for waking up Jason, one for interrupting dinner, and I asked one for their home number "just in case Mr. or Mrs. LeBlanc couldn't reach them at work." Heh..and at work, I told one that the person they were looking for was dead.

I've been sick since Tuesday, my fever getting up at least to 102 each day (except yesterday). My parents both wanted me to go to the doctor, and since I still haven't found a job, they offered to pay for it. I didn't think I really needed to, but since they wanted me to and were going to pay for it, I figured I'd go. Fine.
I got there and waited two hours. Honestly, I understand that this happens, and I have a fairly good grasp on why it does. However, knowing mentally and knowing it emotionally are two different things. But still, fine.
I get into his office - finally - and start telling him my symptoms. Slight nausea, which I believe is caused by barely eating for the time I've been sick; he wrote me a perscription for it. Pointless, but understandable, I guess. Slight disorientation and off-kilter equilibrium; my fever's been fairly high, and there's fluid trapped in my ears from whatever I have. He wrote me a perscription for dizziness meds. Stupid, but whatever. He gave me samples of Allegra, because they're antihistamines and will prolly help my virus symptoms. (Now, keep in mind that I'm saying he said I HAVE A VIRUS, which means I just have to wait it out, okay?) Then he gave me perscription for some amoxil (a variation of penecillian) BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T FEEL LIKE THEY'VE GOTTEN THEIR MONEY'S WORTH UNLESS THEY COME AWAY WITH ANTI-BIOTICS. So he gave me an absolutely *useless* scrip that could honestly wind up doing more harm than good. If he hadn't said he was giving it to me for the reason mentioned above, it might not have registered so much. But to give me something that doesn't work just to give me something? My respect for the medical profession is steadily waning.
Then, when I got up to pay, they didn't take credit cards, so I had to write a check and got whapped with the bill myself. I am firmly resolved not to go to the doctor again unless I know for sure I need to. If I feel like I don't need to go (and I'm beginning to be able to listen to my body a bit better), then I'm not going.
Mthr- that doctor's visit sounds like a real annoyance. However, I believe amoxicillin does work for the symptoms you spoke of sometimes. The other stuff doesn't make any sense, he sounds like a real crackpot.
**My present gripe is that I did not get enough sleep and I have to sit in school all day today

He literally said that he was giving me the amoxil because some people feel like they're not getting their money's worth unless they come away with a scrip. He said I had a virus, and I said I knew I just had to ride it out. If I didn't have a bacteria, I don't really see how an anti-biotic would help, especially when he said as much himself. So, yes, I'm chalking him up as a quack, myself.
But, yes, I do feel much, much better, thanks :)

Some peolpe called Anti-biotics doctors' candy. Some doctors prescribe it for the stupidest things and that is dangerous. There are much more important diseases out there that require certain antibiotics and if someone takes them too much, the body just starts to become immune to their effects. If a person that has been taking them for the wrong reason ever gets a reason to take them, the meds just lose their effectiveness. It's best to wait out a cold/virus or just take some over the counter stuff like Nyquil to just get through it.
My gripe: I am starting to go crazy with this non-sleeping problem. it's just been getting worse and worse these past few nights :(. nothing seems to work and I really hate the idea of sleeping pills. I may have to though. sigh...oh well.

My gripes of the day:
With AP tests going on and SATs last weekend, and SAT IIs coming up, i'm under a lot of stress.
well, i decided to go into school early to do chem work... but i woke up an hour and 15 minutes late. i finally woke up only to be so late to school that i got the third to last parking space. i had to walk in the rain to the building, and my polka dotted pajama pants got all wet.. i had no time to do work, but i thought i had two opens (free periods) in the morning... but i got the schedule wrong. instead, i had every one of my classes today. so, i didn't get chem work, german work, or english work done.
as if this mix up in schedules wasn't enough, since i was rushing, i had my wonderful red sheer thong on (the laundry was downstairs) and of course someone noticed while i was attempting to fix my wet pajama pants.
i came home and thought it would be good to do my english essay rewrite... well.... wonderful for me my diskette was nowhere to be found, i lost that essay and countless others, and had to retype that particular one by scratch.
basically, i blame this day on waking up late. bleh. school stinks

I just can't take it anymore!!! AHHH :furious: Slomin's is the only company I know that calls people early in the morning and refuses to call any other time! I just got woken up by them! At first I didn't answer the phone, but I figured now that I'm awake and can't get back to sleep, I might as well call them. I called to not only find out why they called but to also request they not call me so early. Well I got handed to the person that called me. She told me that there was a balance that I needed to pay. Ok fine, WAY!! too expensive but whatever, I gotta deal with it. I then proceeded to ask if there's a way they could put a note on my account to not call me early in the morning. Not everyone has a 9-5 job and I need my rest. She told me not to pick up then and turn off the phone. Not as easy. For one thing, one of the phones in my room doesn't turn off easily (I'm not sure it even can). The other is, why should I when they are the only ones that call me that early! I like to have the on in case I do get called in for a job, but I am not very easy to deal with this early in the morning with these types of phone calls. She still explains that they get up at 8am basically telling me tough sh*t and that they will continue to call me in the morning if it so suits them. No other company has this problem. I have gotten phone calls in the past and those companies had no problem noting not to call me in the morning. It's just Basic customer service.
So I've decided to leave Slomin's. They are jerks! They are overpriced and rude to their customers!
What the heck is Slomins?
I hate being so tired that my contact lenses hurt

MO: Slomin's is an oil company that offers a free alarm system, but they charge and arm and a leg just to do service on the alarm system no matter how small the problem is. (they are the ones that do the ads for 1.800.ALARM.ME)
Alien recently had his old house painted. There was some left over paint still in the basement from the original paint. Well we THOUGHT all the buckets left in the basement were paint and painting supplies. But to the painter's surprise when openning up one of the buckets...pee and toilet paper (possibly poop was there too) :hurl: OMFG! That's digusting! :puke: They even closed the lid on the bucket as if they figured no one would find it! I don't know how they got that lovely idea when there was a bathroom outside for them to use (port-o-potty). The bathroom upstairs may actually have been installed and working by that time too! What class these people have.

Awww must be quite a pain, Lobo :(
I have been sleeping so much since I've been sick. I finally am well enough to go to work and BOOM! i get hit with a migraine and insomnia. DAMNIT! :ticked: when will it end?
I should be ok for tomorrow. I gotta get up early cause I'm getting shades put up in some of my rooms. Plus I have an appointment to make early, and then I have at least two clients tomorrow later on in the day. At least my wrist is able to move after a week of tendinitis. I still don't have a full voice from the larengitis, but I hope my clients don't mind. I still have a cough, however, but it's not nearly as bad as it's been in the last few days.
Sigh...I hope this day goes better than last night...

I can't take this anymore :( I've had this on and off, mostly on, migraine since the first sunday I was in the hospital. It just won't go away! No pain killer seems to be helping. Eating isn't doing much, and sleeping only helps a little. I'm getting so tired of this. I can't do much with these headaches. I started work again today. Luckily my client cancelled so I got a massage instead :). but as soon as I got home BOOM! I felt like my brain wanted to jump out of my skull!
Sigh, I'll deal but this is getting ridiculous.

:madder: My gripe is about my business partner not taking care of herself. She has an illness that will completely resolve, but it will take time . She won't take care of herself and continues to push herself. So rather than this being a one or two week deal it's now going to be much much longer, and best of all she has zip consideration of what this does to others. We have tried to get her out of the office, but she fights us. I finally had to take her out of the schedule to force her to stay home, and she's mad at me, of course not too loudly as she doesn't have the strength to fight just now (so how could she work? I've been doing her work for the last two weeks as she cannot work for more than 1/2 day without becoming exhausted and then I have to cover for her the rest of day - of course she doesn't ask she just shuts down)
Why not take the time off you NEED when you feel lousy, and get well, when you can make it four weeks or longer - and also increase your recovery time and maybe make it life threatening. Sure your partner will just take up the slack, work 7 days a week and take call 24/7. Really their life is MUCH more important than everyone elses. Take the week or two and GET WELL!! Really we can get along without you for awhile (we've been doing since you got sick anyway!!!!)
I'll let her family vent about her on their own - her husband thanked me for taking her out of the office.
Thx I just had to say that. If I were to say that at the office it would trash morale and probably destroy the practice.
Now time for some serenity:tunes: Bring on Tony Scott and Music for Zen mediation
Alien prohibited the shout box using by poor LOBO souper. :bawl:
Basically, the 'shouts' of other users are falling off the front page a little too often to make room for your shouts (you have more than 2x shouts more than your nearest shouter). Frequent shouts saying good morning, good evening, time for lunch, etc. are best left to a chatroom area...!
Heh! What's the good reason ... 2x shouts ... is it new world record of shouting? ... nope, this is a reason for prohibition
ALIEN > Can You to imagine if nobody will wish "Good morning" to soupers? What will happen with soupers if nobody will send them into bed just in time? How can I live without shouting?
This place are going to anarchy ...
Ok ... There are two of them!
1) I am sick from friday ... temperature and cought.
2) From friday I do not have internet connection. Comcast sucks! They promiced to fix it in three days.
It is terrible to be sick without internet :(

Mortgage Brokers, Cruiselines, Prescriptions, etc. sending spamlike facsimile to my fax machine. Do I need a Mortgage or a Cruise given to me by an unknown company via fax? Far from it.....that's like giving Viagara to a 10 year old in their emails. Who the heck needs it if they didn't want it in first place. They always send me it day I'm expecting something important on fax. They run me out of paper and ink, and I have to refurnish that to get my important stuff (which saving grace is saved in printer/fax's memory). It's different than email spam since there it's just a nuisance in time spent deleting it. Here I have to sort through 100's of pages AND refurnish paper and ink. I should charge these spamming companies for ink and paper. I think it's an invasion of privacy to a higher extreme, I would like to personally start killing spammers if the law allowed it. Any takers to a mercanary for hire against spammers? :ticked:

Do You really need a fax? Throw it ... it's a garbage!

A lot of people in my industry (antiques) are so far back in technology that I have to have a fax for their sake. That's for me to either send them a photo (since they don't have email/computer) or to receive one from them. Just so you know I use three cameras of photographing antiques (instant, 35mm, digital) so I can send in different ways: handing/faxing customer photo from instant, mailing 35mm, emailing digital. If for the sake of business to make customer happy I'm happy enough to keep fax.
O-oh! That sucks! You should to buy a schredder.

That I own as well, my most used piece of equipment. I shred most delicate info that I no longer need and then burn it. Other stuff that needs shredding but no value of compromising security gets shredded and used for packing material for the business. Yeah, I use the cross cut version to make little half-length matchsticks. So nice as kindling to a bonfire! Next gripe, junk mail....what a waste...at least I feed them to my hungry shredder..... :burga:
Snakes around the barns and in valley area.....I'm not afraid of them and they do provide a way to rid of rodents. But so many of them are showing up recently it seems strange. And I'm talking many different ones. Will probably have to break open my field guide soon to show others what the names of some of them are. I regret that something might happen to those that attend our ranch---the little children might actually get hurt or really terrified by the presence of numerous snakes and the small pets might get tangled up with snakebites.
