Buying a laptop

I will be looking from now until late December (yes long time) for a laptop. I will be using it mostly for word processing but I also want a DVD Rom so I can watch movies on my way to and from work. I don't need anything really wonderful, just something I will be able to do my school work on.

What are your suggestions? I don't really want to spend too much either.

if you were looking for expensive and BEST i would say go IBM, but you're best bet may be a local store, just tell them what you want and see what they say
or gateway even
they have some decent prices :p
as far as specs....from what it sounds like anything will do for you as long as it has a decent dvdrom :p
