Stars

When I go to the members list there are stars. What are the stars for? I can see they're not for posts or anything. Some are white, some gold, some people have one some have 5. What are the stars there for?

I've been wondering the same thing. I noticed that Alien has 5 gold stars.. I guess the more gold, the higher your rank?

i think it shows what rank you are.. prober, grunt etc...

appears to be that the admin(alien) gets 5 stars...
us mods get 4 gold ones...

My current *theory* is that 5 are for admin, 4 are for moderators, 2 are for full members (more than 25 posts), 1 is for junior members?

Actually, before I got bumped to moderator, I only had 3. Now, it's up to 4.

Just my opinion here, but isn't this a redundant feature? Instead of having stars, wouldn't it just be simpler to have a Moderator label next to the moderators? If it's just showing that one group is an Admin, one group's a Moderator, and everyone else is just a regular user, than what's the point, other than eye candy?

The stars are just part of the memberlist hack.
It is quite simple to change it to the icons Alien uses for the user rankings in the forums... I think he is a little busy with the server move at the moment... I will have a word with him next time he is on.

Yeah, I'm interested in switching those default 'star' images, to the 'Galaga' images that we currently use for ranks.. I just never customized that.

2 stars = Full Member (over 25 posts)
4 stars = Moderator
5 stars = Administrator

So far the only members I see with 3 stars is Mth, Capt Kirk and myself. We are the only three members currently with 500+ posts that are not mods. I was just suggesting an answer to your question.

From what I can see a silver star is any junior member with 0 - 4 posts. A gold star indicates a junior member with 5+ posts.
