i love cleaning out my inner ear with a cutip. feels sooooooo good. of course, i cant hear for the rest of the day, but oh baby, is it worth it!!

i go thru a 300-ct. box of q-tips once a week for the same reason. seems my inner ear is always itchy - and to QUELL the itch, q-tips are the only thing that do the job.

I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or whatever, but I remember when I was younger (15-18), I didn't clean out my ears all that ofter, but a cleaning lasted at least a few days or even weeks before another one was seriously needed.

Now, I notice that if I don't clean them out at least every other day, the wax buildup is so bad, it coats the entire Q-tip.

Now that I've managed to turn everyone's stomach...

I am also a Q-tip fanatic. When I met my wife she bought the cheap cotton swabs that were on sale. She did not enjoy a good ear rub. I tried them and told her it's Q-tips or nothing. I tried the wood stick, plastic sticks, expensive cotton molded ends, and every other brand. I keep coming back to the Q-tip brand. I do have one other habbit with Q-tipping. I can't stand to have anyone else near me. The reason is: I'm placing the Q-tip so close to my inner ear, I don't want someone bumping into me or my elbow and causing me damage. Here are a few tips that I have come up with for Q-tipping.

1) Try doing both ears at the same time - it actually doubles your pleasure, but you do loose a bit of control.

2) Sometimes a drop of baby oil on the Q-tip can be nice.

3) Try humming when Q-tipping. I've found that certain bass tones will vibrate back toward the ear and cause a nice pleasure when Q-tipping.

4) My wife knows to stay away from me when I'm Q-tipping. She calls it an ear-gasim. After I wears my disposable contacts for 3 or 4 weeks in a row, when I finally take them out and rub my eyes, I call that an eye-gasim.

i know q-tips are king, but shop-rite brand is NOT BAD.

There is something better than Q-tips. I only first saw it when I started dating my [Korean] boyfriend. It's this wooden (somtimes metal) stick with a scoop on the end. It really gets it all out. It sounds uncomfortable but it's not. They're wonderful.

I thought he was pulling my [korean] leg or something, but I actually saw these [korean] spoon thingies at the [korean] store the other day.

I still haven't tried out this new [korean] gadget, but if it gets out all the [korean] gunk, I might just consider it!

go to your local asian supermarket.. i'm sure they have those bamboo ear cleaner thingys.. i have like 3 sitting in my bedstand drawer...

oh.. and it's really bad if you leave your contacts in your eyes for 3-4weeks in a row.. you're depriving them of oxygen and your eyes harden.. i actually have that problem right now.. my eye doctor said i could only wear contacts for 9hrs a day now.. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/frown.gif

Yeah man, thanks for bringing it up. I noticed that the Q-Tip brands is better than the generics.
Also- If Spidey reads this- sometimes if you have allergies you get the itchy ears.
