I Hate Rednecks!!!!!!!! (the south has fallen)

I can't believe I'm in Florida. I hate bugs. Bright sunshine gives me a migraine (I love thunderstorms). And I hate people who drink, and EVERYONE drinks here, beer can be purchaced in the damn COMIC BOOK STORES, for gods sake! Tried to go back to NJ last year, but its SOOOO expensive, and, as intelligant as I am, I'm not real good w/ money. So I'm here. It really s*&^s sometimes!!!

I love your quote! I think the constant hot weather here makes people drink too much & pop out babies like pez. I have 1 daughter, a steel-trap mind, and a movie star face! And shes only 7! Got to get her out of the south....where do you live? Its got to be up north if you have 4 seasons...!

Florida is a VERY scary place...think about it....anyone broke broke & stupid is going to come here to live, its the cheapest place in the US! I realized I just insulted myself, however I was only 'Broke'! This particular state holds the retched refuse of not only the United States, but all kinds of Various countries & Islands as well. Boy, good thing this is a 'rant' forum, or I'd just sound loke a b&%$#!!!!! My hopes are still high.....and I do have a great apartment.

Okay, I lived in Florida from 5 - 18. Granted, I hated the stupid place while I was there, but it's really not as bad as you make it out to be. The town you're living in makes a huge difference. Like, take Label for instance. When I played volley ball at their middle school, their gym was fashioned after a barn. *That* is where you will find your rednecks. Most of Florida, however, is populated by old people. Mostly *rich* old people who've retired and play shuffleboard. The majority of my family lives in Florida, and a good portion of them were born there, and there's really nothing redneck about them. Yes, it's flat. Yes, it's boring. Yes, there are rednecks. Florida looks like a Yankee state compared to a couple of the places I lived growing up (Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, etc.)

A friend of mine from West Virginia told me that the term "redneck" wasn't always a derogatory term...that it used to referr to a coal miner who would wear a red handkerchief around his neck to keep out coal dust, to wipe sweat, etc. -- so a "redneck" was a damn hard worker who often suffered intolerable work conditions to care for his family. Has anyone else heard of this meaning, or is my buddy pulling my leg?

I haven't heard *that* meaning, but I have heard that it used to mean farmers and the like that had rednecks from working out in the sun. I mean, it still goes along the lines of a hard, honest worker.
