Non-partisanship

In the wake of the WTC disaster, the government seems united in non-partisanship the likes of which I've never seen in my lifetime. Do you guys think this is real or superficial? How long do you think it will last? What do you think are the motives if it's not real? If it is, why hasn't it been like this all along?

Neither side has anything to gain from being anything but bipartisan. The same thing is happening out here - even in the midst of an election campaign, on any issue concerning the events of September 11, the two parties are united.
