Whole site is SLOW!!!

Alien,
Is there something going on with the server? This has been going on for a few days now. Just now, the post new topic page took over 4 minutes to load. Last night,I had to hit stop after 9 minutes because I wanted to go to bed.
Normally, the pages snap right up, but for the past few days, access to all of the pages on the board has been really slow.
Also, I ran a ping on the site last night, and the ping times are in the 700's, and about 14% of the packets are being lost. If I ping my brother's site in Arizona, the ping times were only in the 500's.
This morning, I ran the ping and both sites are down in the 250's, but his site is significantly faster than AlienSoup right now. Is there a problem with the server?

The page for this thread took over 9 minutes to load with no other activity on my connection.

Pings on the my brother's server in Arizona averaged 478ms.

I'm investigating this now, I've noticed this as well as the server going down a couple of times each night for about 10 minutes.

Just an update.. Recieved a message back from the admin tonight about a whole bunch of server upgrades being worked on.. He said it may still be experienced over the next several days while they rebuild, I guess we'll see.. If I see it happening past the next few days, I will ring their virtual necks. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif

Lately it's been taking a while for the forums to load up for me. The other night it took almost 10 minutes,at first I thought it was my 56k connection but I could get to any other site with no problems. Also sometimes when I post a reply and hit submit the page freezes up 1/2 way thru loading. Usually I hit stop and reload the forums with no problems. The replies do get posted though. Whaddya think?

I've been experencing impressive uptime and very quick speed (cable here too, but my gf's laptop is 56k dialup and it loads pages quickly too).

I use IE 5.0. The problem has been sporadic. Today I haven't had any problems. Usually the site loads pretty quickly with my 56k. Hopefully when my DSL goes active on the 23rd these problems will go byebye.

When you say T3 is it safe to assume that is your connection from work? If I try to post from work it takes forever to get through the proxy server even though we are on a T1 connection.
