I got two more machines hooked up this morning. One solaris one linux. (First using either client all other FAH machines for me have been windows)

Ace> If you haven't gotten them up and running just yet, be aware that the Linux client only works with Intel CPUs, and the Solaris client only works with Sparc CPUs.

Not sure about the Sparc. Theoretically, it should be significantly faster than an x86 CPU for these types of calculations, but the problem may be in the quality of the client software.
I know that the Linux client is slower than the Windows client because the Linux client is based on an older compiler (for some reason I want to say FORTRAN), so it's performance isn't as refined.

Don't know if the same problem applies to the Solaris client.

Yep , got them running, thanks for the warning. They both are the correct CPUs. WIll the Sparc run faster? This will be an interesting test.

Cool deal. We sure can use all the cpu cycles we can muster-up. Do let us know how well the new systems perform.
