Hey how does this thing work when you are on dial-up. This is my last night On lan for a while, and I dont quite understand how it works for those of you who dont have a constant connection.

I *think* it doesn't make any difference?

Oh Honey, it is slow. Although it has been getting better, I must say. I recommend not using too much bandwidth on other things while souping.

Prox> It works okay, but I don't think it will initiate a dial-up connection. I'm currently using it over dial-up with 7 machines, and it works fine for me. The only problem is that when my modem disconnects and doesn't dial back in, I get a backup where my systems will have completed work units sitting on them waiting to be sent back, and they'll wait until I establish a new connection.
Obviously, it's not as good as a LAN, but it works.

Ok so to get a new wu i just have to connect to the internet and let it download. Then i can disconnect and wait for it to finish and when its done, re-connect and alow it to upload and re-download? If thats how it works ill be goin slow this summer cause i cant leave my computer connected to the net all the time, only one phone line.

Prox> Yup, that's pretty much how it works. You don't have to leave it connected while it's processing, only when it's sending results and getting a new work unit.
