Procrastination

I try so very hard to get my work done at least a week in advance of when it’s due, but do you think that ever happens?!? NO!!! I procrastinate until the last possible minute and then am up until the wee hours of the morning finishing up what's due in a matter of hours. I do find that my best work is done last minute, but it isn’t worth the sleep loss I suffer. Every time I’m up late in the AM studying, writing a paper, writing a speech, or working on a project I tell myself, “Okay Lori, this is the last time you’ll be doing this”, but sure enough, it happens again and again! Why is procrastination such a habit for me, because overall nothing about it is appealing! For example, I have three 6 to 10 page papers due in the next week and have I started even one of them? if it makes you feel any better, I'm just as bad.
Like last semester when I had a 10 page paper due, and I didn't even start researching until noon before the day it was due, and didn't start writing until about 10pm. It still gets done though. I guess the main reason I put things off (beside laziness of course) is that if I start early, it drags out until the due date, and then I've wasted all that time. Oh well, almost done.

And what's even worse, is that on top of it, I'm a perfectionist. I stress myself out so much thinking about how good of a job I'm going to have to do to make myself happy, that by the time I'm ready to start writing, it's the night before (always the night, as I can't do any kind of school work when it's still light out).

B. because I always think everything I'm going to do is going to be crap anyway.

I'm a perfectionist tooo. it sucks so much.

I do it....sometimes
Sometimes I'll get home from school and do my homework right away, when other times I'll be up 'til at least midnight (such as last night) doing homework (doing a 9 section outline for Chemistry).

For example, I've had this project our English class is supposed to do since like October. Have I done it yet? Nope. When is it due? The end of May. I probably won't do it 'til like the end of April...heh

take tonight for instance: i've had this application for a scholarship for at least four months, and it involves a big essay. it's due... tomorrow. when did i start it? nine thirty tonight. is it any good? no. is it fully done? no. and what am i doing now? playing with my new computer.

Okay, since I last posted about this very topic, I’ve done one of the three papers I mentioned are due this coming week, on Monday of all days!
