When asked this question, it is not inviting you to leave a message with me. I will not see this person and they will never get a message from me.
When asked "Do you want his/her voicemail?", your answer should be a simple yes or no. It should not take you 5 minutes of "umm...ahh...hmmm..." do decide. Take the voicemail and get it over with. It's not a tough decision.
Don't ask me where they are or if I can page them. I'll tell you no. I don't watch everyone's movements. We don't put tracking devices on everyone so the receptionist (or whatever poor soul is sitting in for her (me)) can find them. That's why we have voice mail.
