I keep having to retype them. I've set up the prefs. to keep for 1 year twice now.
It wouldn't be so bad if I could type better and the password wasn't a mix of capital letters and easy to remember. Is there a way to change the password from the one assigned?

Delete all your cookies, then set your preferences from scratch once more. Which browser are you using, btw?
Also, to answer your question: go into profile, and change your password there to whatever you want. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

It's doing it again! I just posted a message and had to type it in. I then posted again and had to type. Maybe I change my name to a single letter http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif
I post on another forum (not anandtech)maybe that is the problem? Although the other forum works fine?

i have similar problems
i don't even bother using netscape to see this site anymore
and even after deleting cookies in IE it still only saves my user name and pw for a few hours
i just deal with it http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I haven't seen this happen on my end, wish I could reproduce this problem...
I use alot of boards, and rarely see any cookie problems over here (I use IE5.x 95% of the time though).. Netscape has several issues with this software however, that's no secret. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif This board can look horrible with Netscape, and will probably look worse once some other enhancements are made.. I do have both browsers, so I try to optimize for both as well as I can.
I'll be redoing every hack on this board from scratch once 5.46x comes out (then once more when 6.0 comes out later this summer sometime), maybe that will help the occasional cookie issue vanish. *shrug*
I have an idea that I doubt will work, so lemme try that now while I'm thinking of it just for the hell of it.

With IE 5 it will also store all of your user names and passwords so you never have to put any of them in. It's wonderful.
I have never had a problem, though, with IE 5 losing my password.

It still doesn't work with IE. It seems every time I reboot it forgets.
