What's your take on them? Do they add to the movie, or detract from them. Take Blade Runner. The director's cut leaves you seriously hanging and you just have a bunch of unanswered questions. But The Abyss (like I mentioned in the previous post) is pretty stylin'. It explains what those creatures are and why they are on Earth. Very cool. So opinions, anyone?

Yeh, I had the Director's Cut of BladeRunner ordered, but when I found out the basic concept of the whole movie had been changed, not to mention the ending, I said No Thanks, and cancelled the order. I like the theater-released version better. And it's even longer than the Director's cut!

I'd like to have the LONG version of Dune! The one with the male narrator. It helps a person understand what's going on better than the theater-released version did.....

I may be crazy, but I'm NOT out of my mind!

The Abyss was so chock-full of extras it blew me away. I loved watching it, first the theatrical version, then the DC version, to see ho wthings flowed...man, Cameron did an amazing job in that movie...

I'm suprised to hear that folks didn't like the DC of Blade Runner...I haven't seen it yet, but was hoping to...

torvus -- where did you score a copy of the long version of Dune?

<gasp> super LONG version?? where might *I* find it ?? i must add this to my collection.

i felt compelled to watch dune again after i finished the book and it *is* pretty damn cool. i haven't seen the new one yet. has anyone else watched it?

they couldn't have picked a better guy to play paul than kyle maclachlan. he rocks the free world :D having said all that, the book still blows the movie version away, imho

i think sean young as chani was miscast. "tell me of your homeworld, usul." but i really liked her in bladerunner (the director's cut, of course - my favorite version).
