Much of the Northeast is getting an eigth straight day of rain today. Does the rain have an effect on your mood? Does it bring you down?

rain is the one bit of weather that actually influences what i will do with myself during the day. when it's hot out, i can deal with that, i will still go out and do my stuff. when it snows...well i love the snow so that's not a problem. when it's freezing cold, ok, sometimes that stops me from going out but only 'cuz it can be really dangerous, and it has to be REALLY cold (like -40C). but the rain, the stupid stupid rain. i just don't want to go outside in the rain. it's so wet. you have to get an umbrella with you, or a raincoat, and then from your knees down still gets wet and buses get all humid and nasty and it's harder to drive. bleh, it's just a complete inconvenience and totally gets me down (not that i need help these days).
I like the rain. Now, I DO get pretty sick of it when it rains for days on end. Where I lived in Germany it would rain for entire seasons almost non-stop...it was annoying, but I got used to it, and it's hard to say whether it depressed me any more or any less.

The rain I love it! splashing around it's fun :) I dont see how people get so hung up about it...I mean the only weather I hate is the hot humid weather.
So yeah I love it :)

I hate heat and humidity more than rain. But rain is annoying. It gets in your shoes wets your socks, wets your clothings even with a umbrella and coat. So its not hard to believe that it ruins your mood. Plus it being dark can't help much.

I love the rain! Love, love, love anything to do with water! Funny thing since I am a fire sign, however, water calms me down! Like Night I relish walking in the rain.
Unlike Rascal, I loathe winter! Despise the cold! Perish the thought! The only time I like snow is at Christmas. Two weeks of snow, I could live with that. Where I do live, there have actually been snowstorms on Mother's Day in May for crying out loud!

Don't you get sick from doing that?

Notice the claws coming out, Chris, when Night wanted you to clarify your "sick from doing that" comment? LOL
Water babies never get sick from the rain. We know enough to warm up when we finally come in out of the rain and we change into comfy clothes and drink something warm to prevent chills.
I believe those who get sick actually had a virus that would have made them sick rain or shine. Just like the old wife's tale that if you go out in the cold with your head wet you will end up catching a cold. So not true! I would go out - still do - in the winter with my hair still wet. It freezes as though I have gelled it and then thaws when I go indoors. Never caught a cold from it yet! An earache yes but never a cold!

Yea, I noticed. I just keep hearing if u go out in the rain you will get sick. After I washed my hair I was being blown on by the fan (I was hot) and she said don't do that you will get sick. But their is much truth in what you say and your probably right. Like the wise tale if you watch too much TV your brain will rot. I've been watch nearly 10 hours of TV a day and I been doing that for at least 10 years and I don't think my brain has rotted at all. Hell I'm even watching TV as I write this.

I'm watching TV as well! I always have it on when I am on line unless I have my music on. Geesh I better mention something about rain here before Rascal chastises us again for getting off subject! LOL (kidding, Rascal!)
OK, let me see! Rain, um it has been raining all day and it is a cold rain. And it is expected to rain the entire week-end.

I hear Central Park is flooded. Wow. I lived at 1056 Fifth Avenue with my ex wife's parents for a short time. It was beautiful. Miss the place. Her parents and she are all dead now. She died of cancer and her parents died of old age. Sad really that her parents died. I would have loved to have seen them one more time. Brilliant people. He had his offices in the same building.
Rain. I don't mind it so much if it's every once in a while - I especially like it at night. Helps me sleep. We've had rain here now for 8 straight days. We've measured 15 inches already. Some of the roads around here have washed out or been dug up. Basements have flooded. I miss the sunlight. Rainy days make me want to sleep in - 8 DAYS of it makes me want to HIBERNATE!!!

Yea
I forget sometimes how lucky I really am. New Hampshire had a terrible time with the rain - 10 deaths. New Jersey suffered very badly, as well. My life was not disrupted aside from missing the sunlught. Big deal. What a sight the sun was, though!! It was glorious!!:sunny:

It was funny Night, scared Chris ! NOT! His response was soon clarified! LOL
In addition to rain, I love fog. My Mother always said that the reason the British have such beautiful complexions was because of the moisture from all the fog they are subjected to in England. I like the smell of the fog as well.

If I saw the correct picture your skin is glowing. Nothing wrong with your complexion. My mother is of British descendants and she loved all things British. I hated British comedy and would never watch it with her. Recently I began watching My Family though and it is hilarious! I have become a fan!

I am getting a web cam for Christmas and a digital cam after Christmas. Chrisl0 helped me with digital camera information.
We all think we are scary looking it is only human nature. I am the same way about cameras. Simply hate my picture! You are fine, Night! Don't be so tough on yourself. Now go meet Prince Harry cause his latest girl is not that bonnie! LOL

I also hear that you can plug your camcorder into your PC and use it as a web cam. It's good since the lenses on a Camcorder are better than a web cam. It's just that I don't remember where you can get software that allows you to do that.
It's quite windy here today. I love the sound of the crisp leaves being blown across the deck. Someone's got a fire going - I had the window open a bit, and the smell is wonderful. Think I'll bake something today....

Apple crumble and cream! I'll be over for Dinner!
Ooooh - that DOES sound good! I was thinking along the lines of a tart apple pie baked with fresh cranberries - just picked some up the other day.

I'm always looking out to eat wisely - haven't had that in years. I just bake for the fun of it, the smells and to make MrD happy. We're having crown pork roast for dinner...

What kind of potatoes. You know us Irish. Need our potatoes!
Sweet potatoes (yams). The only one I'll let him have because they're so much better for you than white potatoes. They're great baked in with a roast!

Sounds divine! And a green bean casserole! Love that!
He loves green bean casserole. Don't tell him but I make it with fat-free cream of mushroom soup. He is also partial to creamed onions, but I won't make both of them. We'll probably go with steamed brocolli and green peppers garnished with chopped almonds.

Bologna Sandwich anyone? LOL We are so off topic. Smo or Rascal will be cracking our knuckles. Rascal did it to me last week-end when I strayed off topic and smo just did in the born gay section! We can blame it on the rain in this thread though. Rain makes you skip all over the place in thought!
It's a thunderstorm here today. I have to go buy millk, but even I won't go out in rain when it's coming at you horizontally.
You know, one day the wind stopped blowing in St. John's and everyone fell down. ;)
