Any way to consolidate posts into a single thread?

I think this is something DieselDan brought up earlier, but I thought I might expound on it. It'd sure be nice if we could prevent multiple posts on the same offer. Can the mods just close the newer thread and move the post into the original one? This would sure help the continuity of the discussion of any particular deal.

Otherwise, fantastic work on a great site!

I don't believe a particular thread can be 'attached' or moved into an existing one.. We *can* move topics from one forum to another, but the actual messages being moved into an area of the same topic, I don't think we can do... Am I clear on what you want to do, or am I just really tired? http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif

Wow, I just reread that and I confused myself... The only way to stop repeat posting of deals is to keep up with closing of 'clone' topics, and for people to utilize the search feature I believe..

Other thoughts? Lemme know!

That wasn't exactly what I was suggesting. I was suggesting making the locked symbol on the Thread "index" page more noticible, since you can barely see that little lock on the folder, which basically looks the same as the icon next to every other thread.

Hey DieselDan and Alien - I definitely agree about the size of the lock symbol. My comment was more of a followup/extension to DD's other suggestion about having the ability to show all of the posts in a specific topic on one page.

I'm just thinking out loud about how to make it easier to follow any one topic (like free money bank deals) without having to go through a number of different threads that have all been posted within hours of each other. Guess there's really no way of getting people to understand the usefulness of searching before posting. I've never seen a forum that has managed to solve that issue. At least here people aren't flaming each other for double posting deals!

Good suggestions, I wish there WAS someway to do it. As it is I just close duplicate posts by locking the one with the least replies or the one that was posted last. Until we get someway to consolidate thread thats gonna be the only way to do it.

I suppose that would work. Instead of having a small green folder with a smaller lock symbol, maybe having just a lock icon in a contrasting color?
Silver, pink, orange? Something that stands out a little more.
