damn, this is tasty. if you're so inclined to make a turkey this holiday season, here's spiderg's recipe that she found in a magazine one year and has been using ever since:

12 servings

1 turkey (about 14 lbs.), giblets removed, rinsed and patted dry
3/4 tsp. salt, divided
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper, divided
1 tbs. olive oil
2 cups apple cider
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 can (6 oz.) frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
2 tbs. apple brandy
2 tbs. fresh sage, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. cracked black pepper

heat oven to 450f. sprinkle turkey cavity w/1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper. secure legs w/kitchen string; fold wings back and secure under bird. place turkey, breast-side-up, on rack in roasting pan. brush w/oil and sprinkle w/the remaining 1/4 tsp. each salt and pepper. roast 15 minutes. meanwhile, in saucepan over high heat, bring cider to a boil; cook 15 minutes or until reduced by half. stir in remaining ingredients; boil for 2 minutes. remove from heat and let cool. reserve 2/12 cups glaze for gravy. reduce oven temperature to 325f. roast turkey 3-3/12 hours, basting frequently w/pan juices, until thermometer inserted into thickest part of thigh registers 180f. during last 40 minutes of clooking, baste every 10 minutes w/remaining cider glaze. place turkey on serving platter and let stand 20 minutes before carving. meanwhile, skim all fat from pan drippings; place pan over 2 burners set at high heat. stir in 2 1/2 cups of reserved glaze. bring to a boil, scraping up any browned bits from bottom of pan. cook 10 minutes or until thickened.
