Well? What are your thoughts?

She is just one person who beleives in something and wants to be heard. No matter if we agree or not I beleive that she has done a great job in standing her ground. She is a strong person and that's what people need to really look at. People should stop condeming her for what she beleives and start condoning her for being a person that will stand up for her convictions. Isn't that what we teach our children? Stand up for what you beleive in and I will be there for you no matter what? Then why should it be so different for an adult?

i haven't kept up with any of the news surrounding her. frankly, she can have her opinion, but unless she sways me with a persuasive argument (i.e. not appealing to emotion) she won't win me.

i'd agree that it's high time we get out of there, but we have a job to do before we get out. to jump out now would be irresponsible.
I second what Reflex just said, (but replace "we" with "you"). People also tell their children to "finish what you start."
As for Sheehan...I agree with Mustang, at least she is standing her ground. However, I don't really like the tone of the media attention she's been getting...somewhere over the past couple of years, American Media has lost the idea that bias should be SUBTLE...not BLATANT.

She may be entitled to her opinion, however she has been lying to you since day one.
..which is why I don't like the tone of the media attention she's been getting. They seem to believe her too readily.

I agree she's entitled to her opinion & persuing *another* audience with Bush. However she's going about it all wrong. Myself & everyone I know think her son must be rolling in his grave. She's completely disrespecting the fact that it was his choice to join & he likely had a pretty good idea what he was getting into there. It was his decision to serve his country, not Bush's. Anyone who thinks someone joins the military & thinks they'll never be in a conflict (especially Army/Marines) needs some learnin'. If someone joins the military thinkin' that they need a head examination. I'm in the Air Force & I've been exposed to bombs & sub-machine gun fire just from protestors from Allied Force. That was in Italy of all places.
The media in general is exaggerating some things, lying about others. I know people who have are/have been over there, I've talked to families of people who are over there & I get reports from over there the large majority of Americans will likely never see/hear. Yeah it sucks, but we are doing a lot better than it sounds. Those over there know why they're there. Once someone comes up with a good plan odds are we'll do even better. It's a new method of combat. I'm all for clearing out, but as said above not until the job is done. Leaving now would not only be irresponsible but also dangerous. What needs to happen is the Iraqis as a whole taking control of their country, the average citizen reporting suspicious activities & helping to clean things up. Some of them are already doing so (besides those volunteering for the hazardous police duty). When they truly take ownership of their country odds are we'll be able to leave. We don't need people like Sheehan making our troops over there feel like they'll get a post-Vietnam reception when they get home &/or that their families could be as unsupporting of their life decisions as she apparently is of her son. If I didn't know better I'd say she threatened to disown the kid when he joined.

death and going to war was a risk her son knew he was taking when he enlisted, yes its sad, yes i think our troops should come home soon, however it would be different if her son had been drafted and didnt want to go.

Never mind that he went there, came home SAFE and then volentarily re upped. He was not ordered to go back a second time, he WANTED to. That is why he is rolling in his grave. His mother is dishonering his life by using his death to further an opinion he doesnt agree with.
My heart goes out to Cindy Sheehan for her loss. No mother should outlive her child. I hope somewhere, somehow she finds the solace she so desperately craves. The woman is acting out her grief.
I agree with my fellow Bashers on everything else. Aelwulf's said pretty much everything I could have said, and very eloquently. From the mouth of a service person. Cindy Sheehan's boy joined the service and went to Iraq because HE BELIEVED IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. Thank God for people like him. I wish and pray that all of our troops come home safe and SOON. PLEASE - don't let this war be another Vietnam.

Sicander raised a point the media never does: more soldiers are signing up to go BACK for this war then any other before it. They are breaking all sorts of records for reenlisting. Why? Because the soldiers, the people who are actually there, believe in the cause.
A shame you don't hear much about it.

now why dont they publisize stuff like that more it would make more people feel better that troops are choosing to go back all you hear about is the ones that have to go back

Because the mainstream media HATES GEORGE BUSH and will not, unless they have no choice, publicize anything that would be a positive thing for him.

Nova have you ever sent an e-mail to the White House voicing your support of George W.? I have on several occasions. I think they should have sent me and not Frank McKenna as Ambassador to the US. Then again I never did like Frank. He and my brother were close and he is godfather to my brother's son. I am opposed to some of his views so at parties we are civil but there is no love lost between us I can assure you. Naturally our disputes involve the bilingual issues in NB. I swear I am seriously considering throwing my hat in the ring for the next provincial elections. Would be awkward running against my brother though. Perhaps I should stick to what I do best.

There are alot of people out there who are taking their eighth or tenth tour of Iraq and yes there are those who die as casualties of war, but what about those who make it back alive, but not as a whole. Not just missing limbs but coming back to wrecked lives like those troops that came back after Katrina. Even after all the mess that they had to come back to they rolled up their sleves and voluntered to help clean up and help authorities in New Orleans, if that is what Cindy is protesting then shame on her. Maybe we should send her to New Orleans, maybe then her loud mouth might actually be useful for something.
Great suggestion, missy! They'd probably end up sending her back where she came from!

We could always send her to Iraq to negotiate with the terrorists. I bet she wouldn't last 5 minutes.
