Ok, just wanted to see what everyone, considered when they were shopping. Local means a business that is in your town and has the same services as corprate companies, also for purpose of this survey local will also mean small businesses on the web.
Ok, I choose, Other: The reason for this is because I purchase my gas at a local gas station family owned and also purchase from small family run business when my wife and I eat out. On the other hand, I find us getting food for the house at Wal-Mart. (Really thinking of just taking the time to shop all the local stores to get the deals instead of supporting Wal-Mart, they just put others under and then raise their prices. But that is my own opinion, ya I like cheap, but thinking about what it is costing in jobs and places that have been around for ages it make me very angry.)

i don't specifically shop anywhere, for any particular purpose. i go to where ever has what i want. if the first place i find is local, fine, if it's an internation chain store so be it.
yes except when we are on holiday.

I get gas at a local store owned by a family that has only family working there, he really tries to be reasonable on prices and they speak english so that's a big plus. I only get gas from Shell or Texaco when I am too far from the little guy. I do shot at walmart over Kroger or Randalls, both grocery stores here. Randalls is for people who don't mind spending a lot of money and Krogers I will go to if I need something grocery related and nothing else. Walmart for other stuff cleaning supplies, party stuff, bulk things. I go to smaller shops rather than big name stores for our clothes. I will shop at Khols for clothes though. I prefer to stay away from the mall, mostly because they are high priced and all the teenie boppers.

Actually the place I get gas is the same place I get my car worked on, or oil changes done. His wife has a shop in the back and cuts hair so I go there when I need to get my hair cut. Currently it is only every three months or more since my hair only is still growing on the sides, nothing much to take off the top. Clothing is usually bought from Kmart, recently got some from Wal-Mart don't like the quality though.

We don't have any kmarts around here anymore. NONE. We have Target and I don't shop there because of the way they invest their money. They support abortin clinics. But that's just me.

Wow, wasn't aware of that about Target, don't have any in our local area. I do shop at Staples for my business, but they are the only big office supply store around.
I try my best to keep my business local. I buy my gas at a local family-owned place, get my auto repairs locally and use the local pharmacy. One of my favorite restaurants is here in town, as well as package store and convenience store. I don't like WalMart but find myself "forced" to go there because I can't find what I need anywhere else. Our local IGA is great, but they don't have as wide a variety as say Price Chopper.

Giant Tiger and Wal-Mart are the two places that I shop for bargains. Co-op for groceries. Not too many family owned businesses in this area. Only purchase Irving gasoline.
