View Full Version : I like to drink coke for breakfast

Especially on mornings where it is hot and humid I prefer to drink a nice cool can of coke rather than my usual cup of coffee. I get such strange looks in the morning from my fellow coworkers when I grab a can of coke rather than stand in line for a cup of joe.

I actually gave up drinking soda almost completely, except for when I eat things like pizza. Nothing like an icy coke with a slicehttp://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif

I too will often drink coke in the morning. I don't like coffee so that isn't really an issue. I just don't see why coke or pop in general is generally scoffed at before lunch.

jourgenson>Most people at my job would call it an addiction. WTF!?! What difference does it make if you should drink it in the morning or at night? Right.

Lil'Mo>I am trying to cut down on soda myself, I usually try to drink juice or water instead. But coke goes with so many meals.http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif

Whiskey in the morning --> Addiction
Soft Drink in the morning --> Not Addiction

I would say that cake is far less addictive than coffee due to a far smaller amount of caffeine.

Do you think that caffeine free Coke tastes the same? I think they are very similar and tend to buy caffeine free when I can find it.

I tried caffeine free once and didn't like it. It left a strange aftertaste.

Before I got pregnant, I'd drink diet coke in the morning. I don't particularly see anything wrong with it. Of course, I didn't grow up eating breakfast foods either, so I guess it sorta follows suit that I'd drink soda in the morning.

I MUST have (diet) Coke or Pepsi every morning, afternoon and with dinner. Thought about just having an IV hooked up to me. Just can't do that coffee thing. Cheers!

Mth: I hope your drinking alot of milk.

I think caffine free coke tastes pretty much the same.

I haven't had caffine since the week my gramma died. I got a BAD migraine then and so I stopped drinking that and eating chocolate. I was thinking that if I could give it up forever I'd start feeling better and better...more energy and all...nothing's changed, though. Maybe I just NEED my chocolate.

I'll drink coke in the morning. It's less caffeine than coffee so it doesn't upset my stomach, and it gives me that morning boost; especially cherry coke but either will do http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

They still make cherry coke. I can never find it when I make my trip to the food store.

You should see me in the winter I usually have a hot cocoa w/ marshmallows accompanied by 8 packets of sugar. Whew! I be bouncin off the walls!

Thank God I'm not the only one that uses that much sugar. You should see me at restaurants when I have coffee..there's sugar (now) or equal packets (before pregnancy) scattered everywhere. I usually have to steal one of the sugar trays from another table.

Hi everyone,

Being new around here I'm not that keen on opening-up to you ...... but (takes a deep breath) my names Chris and I'm a Coke-a-holic.

I'll drink Coke morning, noon and night (and all those times in between.) I used to be a competitive swimmer training 10 times a week, so I'd get away with it. I stopped training about 12 months ago and have put on about 20 pounds since!!!

Could do with cutting down a bit, bit it's soooooo good http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/hearts.gif http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/hearts.gif

Chris, welcome to the Soup! Coke is good, but lately, it's been just that the after feeling of it is kind of yucky. So I drink it less and less.

mth, I am the same with coffee, use a ton of sugar and cream, but I love my coffee!

Couldn't do Coke for breakfast...but I gave up Coke completely except for weekends (too easy to consume an extra 1000 calories a day! switched to water)

About all I drink now is water. I have *maybe* a giner ale a day. If we go out, it's usually water..sometimes lemonade. And I get decaf on Sunday. ::sigh::

Sorry, WB, but you're just so darn satisfying http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif

Chris, try cutting down on how many you drink a day, or, if possible, switch over to diet. And welcome to the Soup http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
