Less than 5 lbs to go now. Thinking about (maybe) going for a bit more. So, I need ALL your diet tips and whatever to keep me going.

DD & LilMo: How is yours going? Any more good advice?

It does have ephedrine in it, but I'm being sure to take less than the specified amount.

You know, if you keep taking Ephedrine, you are going to get ex-post-facto disqualified from winning gymnastic gold medals. And that would just suck, wouldn't it? http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/tongue.gif

Of course, if I don't lose the weight, I'll never get to compete.
It's a vicious cycle!

Since I only recently got a scale, I don't know what I started at.
Since I got the scale last week, I've dropped 4 pounds, but unfortunately, I was WAY above where I thought I would be.

That stinks! I have the fear that my scale got messed up when we moved and I really weigh something like a cow would.http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gifhttp://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

DD: Are you still using the herbal stuff? Just be careful if it has Ephedrine (ephedra,ma huang) in it.

Well I've lost around 65 pounds in the last year and a half. The biggest things that have helped me to deal with the "hungries"...

I usually keep a bowl of freshly cubed melon in the fridge. Nifty little 1" or so size pieces. Usually canteloupe, watermelon and hondeydew. When I get hungry - they're quick no-fat snacks.

Oscar Mayer smoked turkey lunchmeat. Has 1 gram of fat - good strong flavor. I usually have a slice on dry toast. I got used to it dry and actually like it that way now.

Instead of mayo - try no fat sour cream as a sandwhich spread. If you can't deal with that - then make sure to get at least a low-fat mayo.

Whole milk's a no-no... I couldn't handle the skim milk, so went with 2% - it's passable. Same with cottage cheese - not the regular, but try a non fat type or at the very least low-fat. Regular block cheese is also a killer on a diet, same with any fried foods. We eat very little fried anything around here, we're grilling fools - even in the winter.

Water - I drink a whole lot of water... I couldn't stand it just plain, so I get bags of lemons and always have some sliced up. Squeeze a couple of pieces over ice - throw the pieces in the glass, fill it up with water and yum! I love it... addicted to it even! http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif

I didn't kill myself on this diet - which is probably why it's taken a year and a half to get the weight off. I try to stick to 20 grams of total fat per day, (Saturated and Unsaturated) during weekdays. I don't count calories - only the fat grams. On the weekends - I eat whatever I want. It seems to make it a whole lot easier to behave during the week. I don't go nuts on the weekend though... well, usually. Dang doughnuts kill me! http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif If I mess up during the week or have a craving for something, I don't beat myself up over it - just swap a Sat. or Sun. for the "bad" day.

If I think of anything else - I'll let you know. Oh, I do take one of our dogs for a walk almost every evening. It seems to help us both a little - as he's a little on the "chubby" side too.

12 more pounds - and I'll be back down to 120! Yippeee!

I bet you look & feel like a whole different person.
Those old habits *are* hard to break arnt they?
My prob is that I never was a big eater to begin with. Just no metabolisim anymore. (Happens!) I think that is just wonderful. Geeez, you must be really proud of yourself. (AAA feels inspired, encouraged and ready keep on going.)

Wish I could do this stuff, you guys... but my problem is I've got an incurable sweet tooth. I'm working on it though.

I'm one of those who finds it much easier to exercise than to diet...but I'm at the point where exercising will only keep me where I'm at instead of making progress.

BUT - tonight I start doing strength training, to build some sexy muscle and increase my metabolism...so watch out http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Well, I was doing 5 days of swimming and 1 day of yoga/pilates... Going to try doing 4 days of swimming and 2 days of strength training, see how it goes. I've heard that adding strength training can make a huge difference.

I'm not "fat" but no one would accuse me of being thin either. I'd like to at least get a little closer to thin. I think if I got rid of some of the, uh, flab on top I could get my muscles to peek thru http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

My SO thinks I'm crazy to spend so much time at the gym, but then he's a stick!

I'm to a point where I REALLY would like to lose about 10-15 pounds. I've never been accused of being fat...but that's because people don't see my thighs and stomach. I also need to get muscles instead of just the little flab on my arms and stuff. id on't think this will happen until after my move since there's really no time now, but I guess i could get into the habit of eating better NOW. I've started vitamins too...

Taz: This may a good time to keep an eye on your diet just because vitamens have a tendency for some people to make them *gain* weight. I would rather take my vitamens and have a little meat on my bones then not take them though.

I didn't know that, AAA...I'll definitely remember that...

AAA - I didn't know that about vitamins either, thank you for that info! http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Yup! I do feel a whole lot better physically. Mentally too! Up until about four years ago, I was around 120 lbs. Until my late 20's under 100 lbs. Then a few years ago, I went through a rough time and started eating everything in site. Which explains some of the missing relatives! http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/supergrin.gif hee hee My metabolism slowed too, the older I got - and the weight just kept packing on.

Even though I was under 100 lbs. for a long time - physically, I felt best at around 120 lbs., so I'm aiming for that. It seems like the last 5 to 10 lbs of any diet are the hardest though, doesn't it? This last 15 lbs has been a real stinker to get off!

I've actually found with my vitamins I'm eating a bit less than usual. I don't get so hungry around 3 int he afternoon that I have to run and get a snack. I can make it between meals or I can deal with a small snack. Cravings for chocolate and such are less.

Lilmo: I'm sorry thats the way you lost your weight.

AAA< I actually lost weight from being so sick in Sept. Since my ribs still literally ache from all of the coughing, I feel it's best not to push myself too much right now. I'm at 5'5" and 124lbs. But I have been eating small meals and skipping nighttime snacks. (Except for cheating with the pumpkin pie once)http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif
