BashAnything.com gets quite a few visitors each day, but most do not register. Those visitors that do register often never post anything. The staff is trying to make this site the best it can be, and we would really appreciate you taking this poll, and maybe posting some suggestions. Thanks for your input!

I registered, but there's nothing here for me to talk about. Got any metal heads out there? Any one who's into music?

Thanks for the input livinglarge! You get some POSITIVE REPUTATION POINTS FROM ME! Music eh? Moose is music guy, but not metal. Maybe you can get some of your friends to come. Or, start your own thread.

Build a thread, and they will come. :D

I was toying with adding more games. Rather than have a list of games that no one plays, I thought it better to have fewer. Can you suggest a few you think we might like playing?

Here's a few suggestions for games:

Chopper Challenge, Curve Ball and Alien Clones.

You might actually want to create a Bash Anything clan for very famous computer games like Starcraft and Counterstrike. That would be free advertisement while having a really blast of a time!

And here's a few comments:

This site has by far the most mature, helpful and friendly owners I've ever seen from a site. Most admins tend to think of themselves as superior to everyone else, their not very open to other people's opinions, not on often and generally a lack of care for their community. It's really just a matter of time before this site becomes really active, but there does definitely need to be a bigger variety of games.

All duly noted. Thank you very much for your kind words. :D

I have a list of things to do for the site right now, but I am going to try and find all of the games you mentioned and add them to the arcade.

Insane,
I really like your idea about the BA Clan playing online games. Not even for the advertising, which is a good idea (!), but for doing something together outside of the site. Maybe we need to make you our moderator in charge of games. If there's a game you like, post it, and we'll see who else is playing. Maybe we do a game a month, or every three months.
And thanks for the compliment on how we run the site, we're trying to make something nice here.

Well, it just so happens, I am a MASTER in FPS War Games: I am one the few 36 year olds in the world who can whoop a teenanger's butt. AND, I have the arthritis to prove it. ;) Moose can tell you, he has watched me in action, and swore I was cheating! :laughing3 I wasn't. :D

I am looking forward to BattleField 2, which is coming out soon, and I love BF Vietnam. Let me know when you run something, I will be happy to join.

I would be extremely honored for you to make me a moderator in charge of games, but unfortunately I would have to decline such an offer. The reason I would be forced to is not a choice of my own, but simply because I only have a 56k modem and thus I am unable to play most computer games online. However, I would love to be in charge of a BA Starcraft: Brood War (Its expansion pack) clan which is also the game I think we should start with first (My 56k modem can be the host of a game with seven other people with ZERO lag in the game, so no problem there). Allow me to give some reasons why we need to start with Starcraft:

#1. Battle.net is the more reliable gaming server from a company ever made, it has no spyware and it has almost never any down time. To create a new user account can literally take only five seconds and the interface is extremely user friendly.

#2. Starcraft is the most popular game ever made, even more so than Counterstrike. On weekends it can easily reach to 90,000 users on at any given time (Just for the expansion pack!) while on week days it will be half that number. The game is close to its seven anniversary and like I said it’s still the most popular game after such a long length of time. In Korea, it’s actually become a sport. Another interesting fact is that it was actually used by the United States military for training purposes until they made their own game which was entitled, ”America’s Army.”

#3. Not only will there be no lag for people with 56k modems but the system requirements are extremely low.

System requirements:

PC or compatible:
Pentium 90 MHz
Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0 (Works for XP, they placed a patch for it.)
16 MB RAM
DirectX-compatible SVGA video card
Microsoft-compatible mouse
2x CD-ROM drive (4x for cinematics)

PowerMac or compatible:
16 MB RAM
OS 7.6
256-color, 640 x 480 display
2x CD-ROM drive (4x for cinematics)

#4. The game is extremely inexpensive; you can buy Starcraft and its expansion pack in the Starcraft: Battle Chest for a mere $20. Don’t read the strategy guides though that come with it; they are by third parties with no real knowledge of tactics in the game.

#5. Just check out the awards and raving reviews:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00001IVRD/qid=1109432493/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-3198718-0197655?v=glance&s=software&n=507846

On Amazon.com the rating for Starcraft by reviewers which has been 200+ for the Battle Chest is five stars, the reviewing number isn’t even counting the reviews for the game and its expansion as separate just the Battle Chest!

There are countless other awards Blizzard has got for its game, but I think they just got tired of placing them all down! =P

“In 1998 Starcraft proved that casual and hardcore gamers approved of the game by selling more units than any other game. To date the entire franchise (including bundling deals, Brood Wars, cross platform versions of the game, and demos) in terms of units shipped totals 2,159,739. These figures are only for the North America. The game has proven to be more popular overseas -- especially in Korea and Asia.”

http://archive.gamespy.com/halloffame/february01/starcraft/index3.shtm

I once watched a SC tournament round video of two major players in Korea facing off one another, the match was HUGE. The arena was PACKED with people screaming like it was a RELIGIOUS CEREMONY. When a BUILDING was attacked the crowd went into a FRENZY.

The character limit didn't let me fit this in with the other post (Excuse bad grammar/writing, it was written awhile back.):

Greatest Game Ever: Starcraft
By Klashbash (It’s my other name)
Written on 05/04/03

First, I have to say this is the best computer game ever made. It also beats anything a console game could dish out. The game is based in futuristic settings (Somewhere around the year 2226). Not only does just the single player beat almost every game (Except Final Fantasy 7), but the multiplayer is what makes this game truly shine even more. Imagine having a map editor so greatly designed, you are allowed to make any type of game you want. Anything at all, from Dragon ball Z to Freeze tag, it's all here. Of course though, it will take you a tiny bit to learn it how to create such maps. Never fear though, the Starcraft Editor is easy to use and has a great help tutorial to the side. You can also make a movie, but in the type of standard of an Rm2k movie. You can also add you're own wav files. Only problem is Starcraft can only play wav files, which can be rather annoying cause they take up a lot of space..

Starcraft with its expansion pack is selling for a mere $20. For only $20 you will never have to buy another type of game ever again... unless Starcraft 2 comes out. If you have Starcraft you got to make sure you have the expansion pack. You can do ANYTHING you want in this game. Platform game wise excluded, I'm talking about something the graphics can do. Otherwise, you're set gold. Personally my favorite types of games on Starcraft are World War II games. Imagine being the Soviet Union, Germany and the countries controlling their forces. You get to control history and make it different. Maybe Germany will take over the entire world? In fact, in Korea Starcraft is basically known as a sport. In this country becoming a Computer/Video game professional is the highest respected career. Blizzard (Company that made Starcraft) knows how to make games... ask any Korean.

Starcraft has won over 30 awards in which most of them said, “Game of the Year." Still not convinced? 90,000 users play on the Starcraft: Brood War at any given time you go on B.net (The server that hosts the games for Starcraft) which is not including the people who play the original Starcraft still. Even if you TOTALLY hate the original part of the Starcraft game, like I mentioned before you can create anything you want. Do you like RPGs? You can make them easily. Do you like making movies? You can make them easily. Modify units to whatever you want? You can do that easily. How about sport games? That’s easy as well. Editors like RM2K can even take a year to make RPGs. Guess what? You can make just a great a RPG with the less buggy, better interface and MORE options than RM2K; with only a month or less time! If you played any Command and Conquer game you can understand how the view looks.

Story - This game has the second best story in a game to my opinion. The only thing that beats the story in this game is Final Fantasy 7, which beats Starcraft's story hands down. The basic story of SC is it is in the far future, in which Earth sent most of their prisoners to a far away galaxy. In this far away galaxy, they had to become an economy and work together to survive. They divided themselves into fractions around seven. Of these fractions each one has its own empire. Each of the seven had to choose a side which was to either be with the Confederacy or be a free force. The Confederacy is a corrupt government that slaughters thousands of their own troops to examine the Zerg. Of course this is just the basic layout of the Terran race. All of the races have a separate story of their own. I just gave something very brief. The story has tons of different twists which makes it very interesting. I know I didn't give much of the story for you guys but I wouldn't want to spoil it.

Terran - The humans, they are the most common race to be at war with each other. They are ruled under the Confederatacy, which is a corrupt Terran empire. Out of the three races they are the medicore.

The mighty and honorable Protoss - An alien race that also has a corrupt system. Their forces have more advanced technology, such as shields and advanced weapons. They are the strongest of the three but cost the most.

The fearsome Zerg - they seem to be the only race not having its tribes in chaos. All of their tribes and units are controlled by the Overmind, which controls the swarms and rampages them wherever he wants. They are the weakest of the three races but they make that up in swarms.

Graphics - The graphics were top notch when it first came out, and I think the graphics are still kicking today. They are very easy on the eyes and not bright colors. The graphics make every unit look greatly detailed and how the units walk, fire and talk are truly amazing. The in games cut scenes are also truly amazing in every aspect, although not as good graphics as some of the computer games out today. Although sadly there is not truly enough cut scenes with enough battle in it, and the best one is the intro for Brood War.

Sound - I couldn't count how many awards Blizzard games have won for sound, they are always so great about it. Not one sound is faulty, and all of the sounds truly go into the game. The battle sounds of armies clashing and the mighty sounds of artillery really hit at home. The music in the game is pretty good, but can get very annoying after the 50th time you play this game, never fear; turn off the music button is here! The troops are customized with their own sayings (Not per individual but per differerent unit) and if you click on one of the units over and over again without moving it, it will say something funny.

Interface - The interface of the game is really good. You can build buildings anywhere (Except too rough terrain or over cliffs of course) and the making of units is really easy. You can make five per building at a time, and they produce one at a time (That means you should build more barracks than just one). You can also save replays for later use in which you can watch good ones over and over again. Expansion is truly one of Starcraft's best things, although everything is awesome on Starcraft. Cause there isn't minerals all around your base, but there is enough for you to build a pretty decent army. So that leaves for you to expand, making you a bigger empire, but each time you expand, the situation can become more deadly since you are closer to the enemy.

(Bah, the character limit here is quite small =/, well here's part two of the review.)

Game play - This is the most important aspect in any game, a game could have bad graphics, bad interface and bad sound but the game can be really good with great game play (Starcraft has every part amazingly well done). It's truly easy and awesome how you harvest and move troops. There are tons of easy hot keys to make the game even more enjoyable, than it already is. Although, you can only move twelve troops at a time and this may be really annoying to newbies but hey it's a part of micro management.. You have to be good with the mouse to get used to that, plus you'll see how it mends in with strategy.

The game's strategy level is truly high, and no unit is worthless. Every single different unit has something unique about them, and can really help some battles. The A.I. in this game is truly great for new players, but once you become a great expert...even insane mode becomes boring. I really wish they let players make their own A.I.; I can just imagine the possibilities. There is programs that let you do that but don't think they are easy; they are extremely complicated and frustrating. Since Blizzard supports its games so much, it’s really hard to imagine this game becoming more balanced than it already is. The game has been through a lot of patches that have mended any real problems.

Multiplayer - This is the best part of the game. As I mentioned before, you can make any type of game you want and imagine playing those games online. Plus the maps of "Map Settings"(Which is the maps that are created that aren't like the original Starcraft game.) and such as "Melee" is both in separate places to play. There are two different kinds of regular game: Melee means that every A.I. is against you and Free for All speaks for itself. However, in multiplayer Melee is people can ally against people or even backstab allies. Free for All is everyone against each other.

Sadly, a lot of people like a lot of really lame maps. As example such maps as the "Matrix"(Who wants to play a game where enemies don't even attack but walk by you?), and tons of RPGs that are just really boring. Although some great games truly shine on B.net to everyone, like Final Hour and WWII: Death in Europe. Everything really is interactively easy though and joining games with your friends isn't hard at all. Heck, you even got a friends list. This game is made for every single computer game type player out there, since it's possible to make any type of game to one's needs.

Pros - Story, Graphics, Interface, Game play, Multiplayer. In the end, this game just adds up to the best computer ever made. It's the only type of game I have played for over four years and it is still fun to play. Not only that the game cost only $20 and the expansion to it is $10. You can get both together in the Starcraft Battle Chest which at most places cost $20.

Cons - The A.I. gets really boring after awhile and is too easy to defend and attack against. Blizzard for actually letting people on their servers that has lower than a 56 k modem (Everyone should REALLY have at least a 56k modem by now, sadly 26k is allowed to go on B.net -_-.) There are a lot of famous lame maps that seem to clog up the multiplayer though with 90,000 users at any given time you can expect that. You can only have wav files for map editor. The annoying cannot create more units error (Occurs only though when there is TOO many units in mostly map setting games) and you can only do limited scripts (1,656 or somewhere around there but that's a LOT already) Another one would have to be the fact that you can't create your own A.I.

Conclusion - $20 for the greatest game ever made. I would seriously pay $1,000 for this game with Brood War if that was the only selling price. You can call me a geek or whatever, but once I first got to play this game online I played it 16 hours straight it was just that a great of an experience. Oh, did I forget to mention this game even runs on some of the crappiest computers? Starcraft is only 400 MB and can run on a Pentium 90. Downloading maps from other people is simple and very fast. There is no game that has more replay value than this. I've played this game for over four years and still haven't got bored. In reality for only $20 it's a billion games in one. What are you waiting for? Buy it now.

Rating - 98.9

Part four of the entries - Conclusion:

We can’t have the new game per month or three months deal, what we need to do is have consistence. The new game per month deal… that would force some members to buy a new game every time they want to join in on the fun and what if they don’t have a really good computer? What we need is inexpensive and classic games. I say we start this up by having a Starcraft gaming session every Saturday night.

What we also need is to have patience as well, let’s not expect to see basically any members come to our gaming nights at first. What we need to show them is like I said consistence, show them we’re doing this every Saturday night since it began and that it’s working out well despite having only a few members within it. I have quite a few Starcraft buddies that could play with us and if their the forum type people I’m sure they would feel welcomed to join this site.

Not only that but we can’t just have one thread proclaiming these gaming nights, there needs to be some advertisements around the site to make sure basically everyone knows about it if they want to join in. I have a lot of spare time so not only can I make sure I’m there for the gaming nights but I can train new comers for the game. If we dedicate ourselves to it, have a consistent pattern, have patience and welcome in newbies I’m sure we can even have more gaming nights than on just Saturday as it should start to spring up.

great idea to put more games on though. I'm a music lover too by the way. I love metal, rock stuff :) that gives me an idea to start a music thread if it hasn't already been done and why's no one online but me!

stupid time difference it's 11:10am here but it says something like 6 am gggrrrr
