Have you guys ever heard of a game called HomeWorld? My friend says it's better than tribes, is this true?

You're friend isn't too bright.
You can't compare the two because they're two completely different games. If you like large multiplayer first person shooters, Tribes might be fun. If you like 3d real time strategy games, Homeworld's good.
