I work for an international company populated with people from all over the world. Every year we host an "International Food Day", the event serves two purposes. The first being that you have a chance to bring in your favorite dish whether it be an appetizer, main course or dessert. It's quite an event all the employee's get a chance to attend and sample different foods and judge on their favorite dish. The votes go into 3 categories best appetizer, main course and dessert; the person with the most votes in each of the categories usually wins a gift certificate or something. Our company hosts the event on a work day and will pay for the use of the cafeteria and will pick up the tab for liquor and soda. The second purpose is that it boosts morale and gives employee's a chance to mingle and get to know each other.
So if you have an opportunity to bring a suggestion to your boss try it out. We all have a pretty good time.
Also when you make a dish you submit a recipe which is then sorted and bound into a book.We will then find a printer to make up the book at a discounted rate and give employees a chance to buy the book for a low price.
