Something that usually makes so many squint their eyes about.
But how many people ACTUALLY had raw fish, and didn't like it? I'm guilty , I love Sushi.

I went out with a bunch of my guy friends, and I think I out-ate all of them. Like, I had to help some of them finish their own food so they wouldn't get charged extra. We got a little silly from too much sushi too, and wound up with jokes like crack rice and sea-WEED. It was awesome http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Oh, God, I know! I don't see why it really needs to be so expensive. I mean, I know that it's considered an art among foods, but really! I know someone who spent way over $1,000 the first time she had sushi.

Thank about it, it shouldn't really cost that much, they don't need oil, pans, fire, a cook, dishwashers, and other things that a normal cooked fish gets. It should be about half the price. Instead, you get about half a normal size serving for twice the price of a cooked fish!

I wouldn't even say that you get half a normal size serving half of the time. (Ha ha..I said half twice..funny.) Anyway. I could understand the inflated price if you were eating poisonous blowfish, say, where you could only eat this one little, tiny sliver of the fish or die (gotta love Simpsons references), so the sushi guy needed to be trained, but otherwise..really. Before I was born, my mom used to make sushi at home. Now, how hard can it be?

Why are so many people afraid of raw fish? It's doesn't bite. It's dead...I promise you, it is.
I had two nights of sushi on my vacation and I'm still craving more. Sigh...I still love california rolls, but I'm not too picky with sushi/sashimi, just hold the wasabi. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/pbbbbt.gif That stuff is just a bit hot for me, but a little won't kill me

Ladies and gentlemen, sushi is da bomb diggity. There is no greater food on this Earth than raw fish laid over a little clump of white rice, dipped in soy sauce. Now I must admit that my love of sushi, enormous though it may be, cannot hold a candle to Lacy's, for she is the rock that can't be filled. However, when you've been eating all-you-can-eat sushi for three hours straight, and you're wondering how on earth it's humanly possible...well, there's just one thing to say to that. I can eat more!

Ah, yes, sushi. Being Asian and all, I enjoy sushi a lot. Unfortunately, I don't get it as often as I'd like, probably about once every other week.

kits are sold that allow sushi addicts to make it at home. The crux of the matteris getting fresh ingredients. Seaweed, fish, and the like. But if you live anywhere near a chinese restaraunt, rest assured there is a chinese food store somewhere nearby. Sushi is japanese, but chinese groceries usually stock the ingredients anyway.
Im a Japan-phile too. I'm learning the language right now so I can watch anime without the subtitles. Someday, I hope to be like the comic book snob on the simpsons. Smug in my knowledge of the trivial. Gotta have a goal http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

It's hard to believe but there are a couple places down here in Savannah, that have really good sushi. I thought it'd be difficult to make but watching one of the chefs, it looked really easy.
I haven't seen any sushi kits down here but I've seen them on the web for around $20.
