I really miss my grandmother's cooking. She makes the BEST sauce. I remember as a kid we would go to her house every sunday for dinner and she would have this huge pot of sauce just simmering on top of the stove. My brother and I would be in the kitchen every five minutes looking to dunk some bread in the sauce or if we were lucky get a meatball. My grandmother would chase us out of the kitchen trying to whip us with a mopine. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gif Maybe I'll fly to Florida and visit her and gramp. I sure do miss them.

btw this topic was brought up because of spider and her eggplant recipe, and being today is sunday it just brings back memories. Thanks Spider.http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Both our grandmothers should battle it out, my grandmother's sauce kicks ass. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I think my grandmother would make a fortune if she gave out her recipes for everything, and sold them to someone opening an italian restaurant!

She'd make so much money even if it were on commission!

Man! We *all* think about food enough on this board.

Is it time for a cooking forum?? Or am I just hungry waiting for family to get home so we can eat.

you're welcome boone. my sister makes the best sauce i've ever tasted. she dishes it up w/a big plate of pasta and always has lots of ricotta and fresh parmesan cheese on the side.

aaa> i mentioned adding a cooking forum a few months ago. at the time i was just kidding, but maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea after all http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

I could go for some shrimp scampi and a tray of chicken parm right now. garlic bread with melted mozzarela and a hot brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate syrup would also be welcome. Yummmmiiieee! Dear Lord I'm droolin over here!

Well, my grannies are both dead, otherwise I'm sure I'd have something wonderful to say about their cooking. However, my whole family can cook really, really well, and from what I've been told, I've inherited that trait..yay for me http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif But I gotta say the absolutely bestest food is the food I get in Louisiana. For the longest time, I hated going back to visit, but now I actually feel at home with the people and the food and the land and stuff.

On Father's Day, we had a BBQ for my family and my gf's family.
We made a BBQ glaze that was unbelievable. Got the recipe from my brother's recipe mailing list. It's a copycat recipe of TGIFriday's Jack Daniel's Sauce.

It was good on everything we put it on: beef, chicken, pork, fish. Didn't matter, it just tasted great.
Downside is that it takes 2 hours to make, but when you eat it, it is SOOO worth it.

I could go for some of that tonight. http://www.aliensoup.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
